Triple 4 wading kit axle breather unions (set of 2) complete with hose release tool to fit Land Rover Defender TD5 & 2.4 / 2.2 TDCi Puma models and Discovery 2 TD5 & V8.

These unions are for use with 8mm nylon breather hose.

As standard the TD5 & Puma Defenders and Discovery 2's use cheap breathers for the axle. The factory fitted breathers are held in by ferrules in the top of the axle. They are ok, but as with everything Land Rover, things can always be improved.

These factory fitted breather ferrules prise out easily. You will then need to tap a hole left by the factory breather to M12 x 1.5mm.  This can be done very easily. The axle hole is just the right size for the tap needed to thread the hole, so no drilling is required. You can then screw the swivel elbow union into the axle. 

Triple 4 breather unions are swivel type unions. This allows you to position the outlet of the breather hose just where you want it. Cheaper unions are fixed and do not swivel so the hose outlet ends up pointing where the union happens to tighten up, not exactly where you want it. 

Triple 4 axle breather unions are brass, which are strong and are tough enough to take the odd knock, which is inevitable when off road. The internal hose locking mechanisms are brass and stainless steel, allowing for easy disconnecting and reconnecting for maintenance. (Cheaper wading kits use flimsy plastic unions which don't take knocks all that well and these cheap unions also use mild steel internal locking mechanisms which rust, compromising the integrity of the hose seal (i.e. they let water in) and won't release the hose when the time comes for any maintenance).

These unions require the use of our hose release tools to release the hose from the union. This is included in this set.
