About Us
What is Triple 4 4WD Engineering all about? Simply put, we provide our customers with the very best in 4WD parts for overlanding, competition and restoration.
Triple 4 4WD Engineering evolved from our own first-hand experience of 4WD preparation and restoration.
With 4WD preparation, in our experience, the majority of modified parts available on the market, although most overall are very good, they are usually let down in some small way, and we usually have to make some form of modification to them before we are happy to fit them to a 4WD. (a case in point is air locker manufacturers using plastic fittings instead of steel, where plastic can easily be damaged). We can only assume these products are designed by engineers, who no doubt know what they are designing from a mechanical point of view, BUT, with no input from the people who actually use the vehicles in the field. In the case of restoration, it’s simply been a case of parts been unavailable, so we’ve had to have parts manufactured ourselves.
This got us thinking……. There must be 1000’s of people just like us, needing the same products that we do, but can't buy them off the shelf.... and so Triple 4 4WD Engineering was born.
This is our experience, but what about yours? Every day is a school day. We welcome your feedback on any of our products, and if there are any parts on the market that you think can be improved upon, or parts that are seemingly unavailable, please get in touch, we would love to hear your ideas.
We are a firm believer in putting money back into our local and UK economies. All the businesses we work with are based here in the UK, with the majority based locally in God’s Own County of Yorkshire. All our own manufacturing is done in the UK and over 95% of our product range is sourced from UK, European and American manufacturers. We are not just another in a never ending line of 4x4 companies blindly selling far eastern parts from the wholesalers catalogue with no direct control over the quality of the parts they sell. If it's not the best, we don't sell it.
Triple 4 4WD Engineering is run by Land Rover and Four Wheel Drive Preparation specialist Lee Allen. Lee started his career mechanicing career way back in 1995. The Land Rover bug started to bite when Lee worked on MOD Land Rovers as part of a Civilian contract, however Lee was well into rallying in his late teens, and prepared and ran several championship class winning cars, as well as competing himself as a driver in Hillclimbs and Sprints in a MK2 Escort and Navigating on Road and Stage Rallies. This led to a move in to professional motorsport which saw Lee take up a position as a Mechanic with Lister Cars, running the Mighty GT1 & GT2 Lister Storms in both the British GT Championship (which Lister won) and the FIA GT Championship. Anyway, back to Land Rovers and a move back up North saw Lee back into his old job, and back with the MOD Land Rovers. The Land Rover bug had well and truly bitten and Lee went on to work for 2 local Land Rover Specialists, before branching out at setting up his own Land Rover Specialist's in 2004.
As well as running Triple 4 4WD Engineering, Lee also works freelance, restoring, building and preparing all types of 4WD road and competition vehicles. Vehicles built by Lee have been featured in various magazines including Autosport, Motorsport News, Land Rover Owner, Land Rover Monthly, Total Off Road, The Landy and most recently Land Rover Life. Vehicle prepared by Lee are also very well travelled, to such places as the Arctic Circle, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, North Africa, The Sahara, Australia, Malaysia and competed in the Croisse Blanc.
